OOC: XIV - As in Louis XIV, minus the powered wig and frilly

Gatac 2004-12-16 05:25:12
Actually, now that we have apparently resolved this, can we move on? Peter's waiting for a reply from Art, or at least a travel montage. :)

Tomorrow is a new day and a fresh start for everything. I'll type up a montage that gets everyone sort of on the same page. At least everyone will know where the hell everyone else is.

Gordon, now that I have you around to mind the major NPCs, I'll be taking a little less license into how they conduct themselves from here on out. I'll try to slow down the pace as to have input before things get all nutty.

I have to say having Punkey and Gordon in the game has made the dynamics a bit more grittier and tense. I personally like that.

I mentioned how Carla lost two teams before coming to this one right? Well, Carla's started to theorize about how the whole team is a big trash basket to send agents who know too much or have seen something they weren't supposed to, or in some other way have led some higher-up to want them dead.

If she hears about what Moten did, she'll either take to him as a confidant, or suspect that he's a cleaner planted to take out the non-snoop types who've proved surprisingly resilient.

I gotta say though, that's pretty hardcore and awesome, in consideration.

It did give the game a much darker tone, between the two of them. I like it...will lead to Brian becoming a little more uncomfortable with what he's doing, but still, I like it.

I thought it was mean, but then I've been seeing a lot of stop-motion Rudolph Christmas movies lately.

:)

I'll be home by tomorrow, which means I'll have MAG access again, so I'll go ahead and do the math on a pair of shweet handcannons.

I hope for their sake that these two "not locals" don't want to start something. They're on a cramped train with a CQB specialist and a "gonna fuck you up, bitch" specialist. And if they want to talk, then they better speak English, Japanese, German, Cantonese, or Tagalog...

In any event, Ayumi will keep an eye out with her X-ray lenses.

"You gave him a Russian weapon, right?"

(laughs maniacly)
CrazyIvan 2004-12-16 23:52:31
That last bit has been frighteningly flattering to my ego.

"You gave him a russian weapon" *snicker* No...but he umm...speaks Arabic. Because this team is all about stealth and cunning and violence as a last resort.

Yeah, and execution-style killing. ;)

By the way, the FSB are not local cops. More like a cross between the FBI and the NSA.
Dieter 2004-12-17 02:02:36
The FSB are what used to be the KGB. They are/were the catch-all national/international security agency for Russia. There was no division between foreign and domestic issues.

Calling them cops is like calling the US Secret Service "security guards." :)

They are bad muthas, who just happened to get bushwhacked at the most opportune of moments.
Dieter 2004-12-17 20:40:01
At this time I'd like to point out that Artis was -NOT- driving at the time of the accident. :)
Gatac 2004-12-17 21:34:22
I was just looking at it in S/W. My conclusion? The rig doesn't suffer anywhere near fatal damage, about 10% of it's wound points on a few average rolls. Nothing two Mechanics checks (one day each) won't fix.

The cop car, on the other hand, eats 1d12 per 10mph collision speed, and this is considered Armor-Defeating. (E.g., ignores the first 10 points of damage reduction.)

I think the cops would have to be damn lucky just to survive this. The car's wrecked quite thoroughly in much any case.

Of course, it's Dieter's call, but I think he'll come to a similar conclusion.

If the rig can still move, that's great, 'cause we won't freeze to death. I'm not worried about the pancaked SMP car. I'm worried about the one that only sideswiped us. Are they and the Benz still chasing each other down the road, or is the chase pretty much stopped? :)

Yup. The rig is pretty much fine, save for some cosmetic damage and maybe a broken headlight. The poor bastards in the Lada, whoo-boy...that's an entirely different matter. I'll have the crash scene posted soon.

Are people just genetically rude here?

I'd say it's definitely a product of their enviroment. It just that they live in a place that has an antiquated government, terrible infrastructure, a corrupt private sector, organized crime, low wages, a bleak economic forecast...oh, did I mention the place stays below freezing for the better part of the year?

And when it's not cold, the place is infested with mosquitos.

There's a reason why people were once exiled to Siberia. :)

It ain't Disneyland.
