Luis Stanhill, Bringer of Many Miseries. 'Cause he's got all the skills. :)

Anyhoo - There's a string of new posts, 'cause people were planning out the assault on the Imperial camp in google wave. Please note I did post an update for Cowboy and Angel first - I figure Angel's close enough to participate in that scene if he wants to, but then I steamrollered a lot of new posts afterwards, so just take note, your stuff is in there before the planning scenes.

Sorry, guys. It kinda ballooned. On the plus side, go Cowboy! Good stuff.

There were several tasks bandied about during planning that we'll need assigned.

Who's going to get the keg and lozenge? It's a few hours' march to the caves. Will you go at night, which it is now quickly becoming, or wait for the next morning? Taking the ATV, or several wherren to help carry the things, or what?

There was a recon mission mentioned out to the Imperial camp. Who's going, when are they going?

Hiigra the chief expects Earth weaponry to be passed out the next morning and instructions given in their use. Who's up for that?
Gatac 2010-03-18 18:44:09
I think Hugh and Angel should recon. Angel's good to go solo in theory, but Hugh can at least do some stealth and he's got a finely-tuned "This will fuck us up" sensor.

Cowboy will volunteer for the basic training.

The mission for the keg and lozenge should be done ASAP. Night moves, and we should probably have the wherren help us out, not the ATV. The keg only weighs 100 pounds or so, according to ADS, so that can be carried in a net or a sling, and the lozenge floats. Recon mission should probably also be done at night, camps tend to be lit up, and we also have night vision that we can use with the binoculars. Davis will help with the training, with both the weapons and the tech.

Luis will undoubtably be involved with training when that happens. He can be involved with the retriaval mission if needed.

Angel Rivera, Clever Darkness, The Killing Wind

Who is totally down with a little recon.
Gatac 2010-03-19 06:43:43
Great. Kasey's plan for the gear moves sounds good, too.

*reads thread*
Hm.
*balls up camp attack plan, throws it in the trash*

So, obviously we can't full-on invade a camp that's packed to the brim with injured people and non-combatants, we'd wind up killing way too many bystanders, and people that would go from bystander to attacker and then to dead.

I'm thinking psyching them out is the best play. They're already on edge, a nice big show would be the best idea. We keep with the existing plan up to the point where we surround the village and have the wherren fake them out to get most of their guard and whoever's in charge outside of the perimeter. Instead of having them keep up the act after, the shaman hands the leader his vox. Davis does a little song and dance, lays out the situation, asks for their surrender, says we really want to avoid all the casualties that a fight would bring, we'll take care of you and get you out of here, all that. And then to punctuate the danger they're in, anyone with a D10 Shoot hoses the drones while someone else, probably Semo, blows the Manta with an AT-4, just to show we're serious. Anyone who shoots at the wherren gets put down, and then we ask for their surrender. After that, we roll in the keg and the villagers.

Obviously, this leaves us with one big problem: the Khiraba. I figure it's best if we bunker down and prep for a siege. We just have to last long enough to get the gate open, after that, reinforcements will be the first thing through. Shore up the defenses, move the non-combatants out of harm's way, and hold out as long as we need to. Things might get easier or more difficult, depending on the attitude of the research camp refugees and the Khiraba.

Any improvements?

Can we get an original ADS ham-handed MS Paint map of the Turai camp? :)
Admiral Duck Sauce 2010-03-25 02:57:48

The red lines are generally the meandering paths the Turai foot patrols take. The drones actually orbit outside the map; I miscalculated the document size, but they're off the map. The blue tint shows where the inner drones' highest levels of scrutiny tend to be.
Admiral Duck Sauce 2010-03-31 21:29:29
In general you guys are near the camp now. You cannot see the camp, and indeed are well outside the outer line of drones. What is the plan? Do you want to send Angel or someone forward to get an updated picture, which would require a stealth roll?

If you just want to go for it, where do you want the shaman's group (clock face direction is fine)?

Where do YOU guys want to be? If you all keep together, Angel can roll his stealth and use that result for the entire group. "Keep together" generally would be from 2 to 3 o clock, or 6:30-7:30 on the map. You can also split into smaller groups and move separately, with the best stealth in each group rolling.

Assuming the manta is in the same position given on the map and is still grounded, its accelerators can hit generally from 5 o'clock to around 7:30 or so. It has a beamer turret that can sweep above the smaller buildings but is blocked by the dome.
punkey 2010-03-31 23:55:21
I say Angel recons the target area first, and then we move in so we're out of the cone of fire for the Manta, if it's still there. We'll be positioned about an "hour" or so from the Shaman and the initiates, on opposite sides so we can cover them, take shots as necessary, and move in if we have to.
Admiral Duck Sauce 2010-04-01 01:16:32
Just keep in mind that if you're staying out of the manta's line of sight, someone will have to move INTO said LoS in order to blow it up, should that be part of the plan.
punkey 2010-04-01 01:19:27
Why? We have to be standing directly in front of it to hit it? Can't we hit it on the sides or the back? As for firing the rocket, sure, it'll give away their location, but then whoever fires it, Semo, probably, just has to move quickly after firing.
Admiral Duck Sauce 2010-04-01 01:43:12
if you are only avoiding the accelerators and not the beamer turret, yes, you can definitely hit the manta from 10:30-11 o'clock and counterclockwise. From 1 o' clock and clockwise, you can hit it but there's a minor bit of cover due to the outbuildings.

Best shot at the manta is counterclockwise from top. Best chance to blow it is to double-up with the AT-4s.
