Fine. It's just annoying sitting on as much OOC knowledge as we have from Max's adventures and not being able to do anything about it.
EDIT: Post in question deleted.
Jade Imperium - OOC 9
Yeah, ix-nay on the metagaming, please. We're enough of a threat to logic and narrative structure just by being PCs.

OTOH, once you're in the cortex, why NOT try to get info on the guy who turned Aikoro into a clusterfuck trying to capture you?
Although I personally didn't mind you trying it before you got access either.

Yeah, that was basically my thought. However, on Punkey's advice, I'll wait until we're in the Cortex.

Meh, might as not piss off Punkey. It won't be long, anyway.
Spend a couple Wild Dice on this one if you have to, I'm getting tired of running the show and I want to blow some shit up in safety. I want this bastard pissing his robes.
Re: the situation on the needleship, we're still waiting for signals on both issues, aren't we?

Nice move, Ivan. Very Deliverance.

No time. Go for it. Take the Gate, then contact the other ship. If we don't hold both Needles and thus control Boronai's system, we can't move on to ground assault and taking her Gateports. No time to wait for realspace signals, we need to push on.
EDIT: Gatac: Recomend sticking with the story. Ask for their assistance in retrieving grounded lifepods (draws men away from Gateports, allows quicker establishment of landing zones), but stress that remaining skeleton crew has situation under control.
ADS: How long until Gateport strikes are 'go'? A few minutes? Half an hour? Longer? (Note: this is assuming we're using a set timetable, which I was under the impression we were).

Why? The ground forces through the footgates are ten minutes out, and the bulk of our soldiers and mechanized forces in other freighters will roll out at the same time. We need to clear the skies and dial the orbitals together quick. Light 'em up, I say.
Something to consider for those folks on the Needleship:
A Needleship conducts bombardment by turning its nose towards the planet, like the ship is a dagger about to stab the surface. That presents a relatively small surface area that's nearly all obtuse angles. Minor lateral movements in orbit allow the ship to attempt to dodge incoming ground fire.
Anything on the surface worth firing at orbital attackers is going to be akin to a missile silo. Buried underground, with massive heat sinks and either some sort of armored shutter or the ability to change position, because once you fire the ship knows where you are.
The planet's atmosphere will soak up some portion of energy weapons, but guided munitions stand a chance of being shot down by counterbatteries on both sides.
In game terms, the Needleship needs to pick a die type that represents the base difficulty to hit for both sides of the conflict. You can go as low as a single d4 on up to multiple d12s.
Also, if you feel your talents aren't being used to their optimum on the capital ship, you can leave it in the hands of Mardy and Quper's reinforcements and ride a manta down to the big fight.

My thought is that we don't bother with ground defenses until last, if at all. Since the ship fires forward, we'll look innocous aiming at the orbital crap and can take those out first while dialing the gates, then retreat to a safe distance. If there's anything on the ground that actually inconveniences our teams there, we can take care of that later, but I don't want to wreck the ground defenses if we don't have to fight them.

Oh, of course. I guess I was getting ahead of myself. Destroying the orbital's defenses from surprise is practically a foregone conclusion, just post something indicating that you'd like a post from me detailing the fireworks.
It sounds like there might be room for more than one at the weapons station. If that's the case, I figure Semo can take one and maybe Mellish or one of the newcomers can take the other. Of course, if Hugh would like Semo elsewhere, that's his call.

It's cute how they still think it's a malfunction. Shall we disabuse them of that notion?

I'd say a formal introduction seems in order, yeah.
Also, while you're doing that, you might as well drop the ship's new name, whatever it is. I personally like Liberator, with Independence for the other Needle.
