Point of order, where are we now in the invasion timeline? Do we need to stall those guys for much longer or is the shit already in the process of hitting the fan on the ground?

My guess, subtracting time to manuever and work out the weapons systems from the 10 minutes remaining when you first talke to Boronai two-seven is that we're looking at a max of three minutes--and that's the upper end of the range. It could be as little as thirty seconds, or even zero. Of course, ADS would have to be the one to give a definative number.

Let's put the boots on the ground and the cards on the table.

EDIT: And we're blocking the gates, of course.

I assume you'd be blocking the footgate (and sending your bomb through the Spire gate); will you move the two Needles to block the orbital and outsystem space Gates? The drawback is that you are a stationary target should they be able to target you with surface fire.
Gatac 2008-12-05 21:44:51
Yes, block the shipgates. Anything tries to fire on us, they'll get smoked from orbit. After all, planetary installations are the ultimate stationary targets. :)

If we can identify the source of the ECM, maybe we can wipe it off the map.

Don't these things have optical targeting as backup?

Hm, that's interesting. I assumed we had beam rifles, but looking back, it was never made clear what we're carrying. Is it beam rifles, or are we rocking SCAR-Hs with prototype ammo?

Please let it be SCAR-Hs with prototype ammo. :)
Admiral Duck Sauce 2008-12-06 17:59:04
The subject never came up till now. I figured this time, let's be vague until the situation presents itself, and then we can pick what you like and call it "planning". :)

silenced SCAR-Hs with AP ammo it is! Except for Luis, who has his UMP45 on account of his specialization.

Sure do! Now it's a normal to-hit roll rather than the pushing of a button. :)

Semo will definitely do his best to stop those bastards. (Roll dem bones!) And if anyone can use their tech mojo to locate the source of the ECM, he'll nuke that as well.
CrazyIvan 2008-12-06 23:36:56
Well, he's quite dead. One shot to the control piece for good measure, then any surviving drones?
punkey 2008-12-06 23:42:38
Nah, I'm pretty sure we don't need to worry about him anymore. Just hose the drones down before we get killed by radiation.
punkey 2008-12-09 07:09:16
Toss some Wild Dice on that one, baby. Let's get that sucker to sink in.
Admiral Duck Sauce 2008-12-09 18:43:46
Do you want to make multiple actions, one to seal the doors and one to continue searching for the classified data in the Cortex? Or would you prefer to tackle one thing at a time? It'd be 1d10 + wild dice for each action vs. 2d10 highest + wild dice for a single computer action.
Admiral Duck Sauce 2008-12-10 17:58:08
Doors are sealed. They would need to roll a 10 or more to get in there before Luis wants them to.

The list of interesting things to do in the Cortex is as follows:
1. Maintain IFF so the drones can't shoot you. This is a round-to-round action that needs to be maintained until the drones are taken out.
2. Gain control of the security system. This is more akin to a car chase, where you seek to reduce the Imperials' advantage to 0. Once you've started, skipping a round will allow the Imperials to roll uncontested and improve their advantage significantly. For example, that's what happened this round. Jonnoperest dedicated his action to keeping IFF up, Luis spent his on shutting the door, Davis is talking to the Emperor and keeping his rather significant Computers skill out of the equation.
3. Declassify the Cortex and broadcast a global update. This is your primary mission.

How good is Jonnoperest? Is he rolling a similar Trait die to me, or no? What's that working at? If he's at my level (minus WD), he can probably handle it. We've only got three left, and Angel and the others can probably get them in one round. If he's not....I may need to help.

If I'm not helping Jonno, I'll be doing this. Again, WD use is fully authorized, warn me if it gets excessive.

And it'll need to wait until we can devote time to it uncontested. Security system and drones first.
