OOC: Shaken, Not Stirred IV - Yet another original title.
Quote:From ADS
That's why we take reinforced tires, kiddies. I say let's give my meager Wheelman skillz a test drive... Let's get Harry his SMG and get after 'em. I'll keep Interpol and whoever updated (speaking is a free action, right?), you guys blast away.
Ok, so we'll have our first chase scene.
Initiatives:
Hanna/Decker: 25
Artis: 18
Jess: 14
Gavin: 10
Harry: 4
Hanna/Decker: 25
Artis: 18
Jess: 14
Gavin: 10
Harry: 4
Dammit, why do I always get either really good or really bad initiative. Well, I guess we'll pile into the car as follows: Gavin has shotgun, artis is driving, Jessica's on the line with interpol in the seat behind Gavin, and Harry's in the seat behind artis rooting around for his SMG. Izzat right, or does anyone have a better idea?
Sounds good 2 me. The main thing is that ADS and I have to discuss how we're going to use the chase rules. They're a going to be a bit wonky over the internet.
indeed. Well, I think they had a stripped down version in 7th Sea. If I remember right, they had something along the lines of an opposed roll, and a special event roll.
That's basically the way it works in Spycraft...the only real way I think we can do it right is to just post our respective manuevers here then I'll roll the dice.
Heck, it's not going to be as tough as I thought.

Jess on the phone is fine, as long as she's firing out the window too!
Technically, all my manuevers will be That's Impossible, but I'll post the specific one when I get home to my rulebook.

Yeah, I'm sure the Interpol people are used to that sort of thing.
Fortunately for you guys, Decker and Hanna are not wheelmen.

I thought "That's impossible" is only available to like 24th level Wheelmen. that's the ability that let's you do Dukes of Hazzard jumps and other impossible feats, right?
I need to look at that then, because I thought that the prerequesites were Daredevil or Speed Demon or possibly both, meaning that basically Wheelmen don't suffer penalties for maneuvers but other classes do.
Well, I got that from the Spycraft site. I don't have the book, but that's the only place I remember that one from.
Well, I see where I was mistaken, if I am indeed mistaken. It's not so much exactly what the book says but rather the fact that since there's other stunts that also require Daredevil, and That's Impossible allows you to use ANY manuever at no modifier, I guess it stands to reason that That's Impossible the chase stunt refers to the Wheelman 14th level ability.
Well, you're both right...it's just that the 14th level stuff is much spiffier...anyhoo.
Specifics for this chase:
The terrain is "close" with the beginning speed being 70MPH. The average obstacle has a DC of 18. The Volga is the predator and the Rover is prey. The Rover is 50 lengths ahead of the Volga.
Artis needs to decide which manuever he'd like to do then we're go from there.

One thing... if the prey initiates the chase, isn't the inital lead supposed to be 2d6+8 lengths? The book doesn't even account for leads over 30 lengths...
Hmm...indeed. Then we'll say it's the maximum of 20 lengths.
I'm takin' a Shortcut then. Remember to apply modifiers based on our respective maneuvers. If I beat them, reduce chase speed by 15mph and lead by twice the difference between maneuver checks... PLUS I have to make a crash check (driving maniacally through an unknown city - dc 18 from your previous post), which I will spend action dice on if I screw up. I have Driver +10 and Daredevil.
We're still on the same round.
Gavin, Jessica, and Harry use their actions now. Like I said, the Rover is about 80ft. away.

Could you post the range modifiers and "firing from a vehicle" penalties so we can coordinate our attacks/maneuvers?
I made myself a little cheat sheet and PMed myself, so I should be able to choose maneuvers from work.

Alrighty...a few things.
-Hanna effectively has half-cover.
-The penalty for firing from a vehicle without the "Riding Shotgun" feat is -4. If you have it, no penalty.
Range modifiers:
(ex. An MP-5 has a range of 30)
Point-Blank to Weapon Range Increment (0-30ft): No penalty
One range increment (31-60ft): -2
Two range increments (61-90ft): -4
3 RI:-6
4 RI:-8
...and so on.

One other thing....
Unless the vehicle takes a critical hit, all damage is assumed to go directly into the vehicle, not the occupants.
Even then, the critical usually will go to a vital part of the vehicle (engine, tires, etc.)
