Ok, not literally but it's better than saying ADS rolled a critical fumble on his bluff check. The fact that Artis isn't slumped over the van's steering wheel is based on the guard's equally (yet not critically) bad roll.
The guard knows something's up and he's probably going to get help to find out what exacty it is.
The good thing about surveiling the location...you know exactly how many there are.
Head count:
Drivers-2 (Could be described as "Henchmen-type" guys, probably carrying pistols)
Guards-2 (presumably armed with assault weapons)
Goons-2 (probably armed with pistols and/or sharp-pointy things)
Six men total and I should also say that the weaponry provided excludes anything that could be found in the truck cabin or in the cargo area.
If Brian feels he has a resonable chance of success, without getting Jess killed, I'm going for the goons. We're dead anyway if we yeild, and the driver isn't a threat our contact can't handle...the G4 and 5 on the other hand...
So there it is. Proper warning to Jess, a proper slow motion shot of Brian bringing the pistol up, and as much 9mm discouragement he can send at the goons.
As usual, feel free to burn any/all drama dice I'm endowed with.
Does the van have a curb-side sliding door? I'm thinking we could start luring the thugs out of sight of the rest, where Ayumi could dispose of them with her wakizashi. That, or we could start shooting. I'd say our chances are good with only six men, especially if we, say, charge them and shoot first.
If I said I wasn't looking for an excuse to throw Ayumi in the middle of a bunch of bad guys, both guns blazing, and acrobatics in full effect, possibly topped off with some swordplay, I'd be lying.

The van does have a sliding door, so the ability for Ayumi to go slashy-slashy is quite good. Shooting is always an option, but I think everyone knows the body count rapidly climbs (on both sides) when assault weapons are involved.
I have to admit that I'd also like to see Ayumi go all John Woo on their arses.
All right, than how's about Artis pulls his assault rifle up next to him and pulls the van up close in front of the bad guys' truck, blocking them in? Open side door, hose down bad guys?

Time for an agressive rescue of Jess...gonna "Supress fire" right back, see if I can move into a position to protect her
Problem, suppressive fire counts as a "full action" which only leaves you with a 5ft step as your move.
The villain car will arrive at the end of next round, so whatever you do will count alot.
Suggestion: (This counts as your "Inspiration" roll for the game)
Full charge, doing a bodyguard/grappling manuever with Jess. It will put you in harm's way, but guarantee that the bad guys won't be taking her without a fight.

Oh yes...forgot that supressive fire is a full round action...*hasn't used d20 in a loooong time*.
CHARGE! going to put myself in the way of whatever is going after Jess. If nothing else, if our cover isn't well and truely blown, I get to play loyal bodyguard.
Minus two goons. The one Artis initially shot is dead, the other is dying against a wall.
One of the two "guards" is moderately wounded via Carla's blade. Guard #2 is relatively uninjured (a couple grazes and knife wound).
The drivers are also slightly wounded, but are still very much in the game (as indicated by their taunt to Artis).
Character Condition monitors:
Artis- Uninjured
Ayumi- Badly wounded, but still up. Vitality: 50/62, Wounds: 5/12
Jess- Only slightly wounded, but incapacitated.
Carla- Vitality: 46/60, Wounds: Full
Brian- Vitality: 34/48, Wounds: Full
