(rolls, gets a 1) The freight elevator's on the surface level.

Sonuva.

I should also mention that if your aim is to disable the elevator, Stanhill has plenty of C-4 he hasn't gotten to use yet. You can just nuke the thing.

We'll nuke that bridge when we come to it. :P

I'm mainly looking to keep the Turai (if they haven't already) from using to reach topside. It's also a good escape route for us if the shit (like it hasn't already) hit the fan.

Someone should relieve/help Semo so either he or someone else can call Topside. I suppose Hugh might want to spread the official word that Earth is now the target for a massive alien invasion being that he was the go-to for the expedition and such.

I assume there is no way for the Nerd Herd down in Fargate Command to communicate outside the facility, right?

Those systems are broken, but (depending on rolls) could be repaired. They were too close to ground zero (both the sunballs and the Mark 19).

So, that's what? Four Turai left unaccounted for? I say we send out that message from the comm room (pull back Angel, maybe send up Hugh as an escort to a Nerd Herd member to do the actual systems management). Once that's done, move on to the next area.

Short-term tasks:

No, you can't patch the Pit to sublevel 4. Those systems that I said were damaged and preventing you from calling out from the Pit are those same systems that would allow you to patch up to the security level.

If you still want to bring down and secure the freight elevator, you will need someone to actually go out in the tunnel and wait for the thing.

Why do I have the feeling that this means Hugh?

Was it just me who had a mental picture when "A team of sufficient clearance" was mentioned pictured:

An ex-SAS sniper who may have gone off the deep end
A woman who, while she can't kill the Turai, could probably talk her way into being Empress
Some wack-job yelling "That's at half-speed"
and someone with more knives than god

?

Any chance of a clarification for the studio audience? (I presume these characters are from a previous game, but I don't recognise them.)

hehe. Sorry it's slowed down; We're cleaning the house after the ren fest shenanigans and in preparation for my brother's bachelor party this weekend. I hope to have an update tomorrow.

If possible, I'd like to enable some sort of fail-safe system for activating freight elevator. Perhaps something only the Nerd Herd and Deltas would know...like the address number of the closest watering hole outside of Mesa Negras.

I'd say next thing to do is to meet up with the boys in the Armory. We can rearm there, reload, and there are likely to be a few of the non-roving Turai hanging around near a fixed and known group of Earthers.
fanchergw 2007-06-22 04:05:08
I agree; the armory should be our next destination. Then the infirmary.

As I figure it, there are 4 Turai and an unknown number of flying drones left.

That's my count, too. I figure a few of the drones and Turai will be loitering around the armory, and if we can...wait a sec. If the Gold guy's the local team's leader, why not interogate him about how the drones work? If we can get them to appear on Max's helmet display, or to tag us as friendly, it'll limit their destructive potential. Unlike people, they only see what they're told to see.

EDIT: Also, one more thought. When Hugh gave his "weapons only" order on the other side of the Gate, does that mean we left our laptops on the Other's side of the Gate? If so, is there anything on those they could use against us?

That's a lot more complicated than communicating "sit down or I will shoot you in the face." You're asking someone who has no real reason to tell you the truth about how to hack something beyond your tech level. Gold Yamaka might not even know, and then what? Do you believe him? Torture him for something he doesn't know? He's obviously a high muckamuck, but how many of our colonels know how to hack a SWORDS or Predator drone?

Max would have an easier time ripping into a dead drone and going it solo without the possible flawed advice from some alien guy.

As for the laptops, that's up to you. If Luis hears "weapons only", is he dropping his C-4 and his medical supplies? No, and his laptop is part of that mission gear. I would assume you all have your laptops. That order was (stop me if I'm wrong Gatty) to stop people from bringing loot and salvage and tents and shit. Ammo, weapons, stuff you need to do your job right then and there, that stuff was brought.

I think trying to understand the alien technology is superceded by getting Mesa Negras secured and under our control.
