Shinobi - Game Info
It is the 46th year of the Quang dynasty, and the empire is changing.
The emperor has withdrawn from the affairs of state, leaving the task of running his land to an increasingly fragmented royal court. No news of the cause have reached the populace - some suspect he is ill, others claim he has gone on a secret pilgrimage, and a few even openly suggest that he's dead. In his absence, the long period of isolation inflicted on the empire has ended, and foreigners have entered the empire en masse. Within years, small settlements have grown into flourishing trade outposts and industrial hubs whose fires can be seen across the vast valleys of the land.
Even the secretive mountain fortress of the Ayami clan of ninjas has felt the aftershocks of these developments. With each year, the young apprentices are subject to harder tests and more stringent instruction, as if the clan wanted to reduce its presence in the outside world. With a stipend from the emperor himself, the Ayami clan has not had to resort to the low but common practice of raiding towns or merchant convoys for its sustenance. Where other clans are openly cursed as bandits and vagabonds, the Ayami clan is rarely spoken of in public.
This spring, the thaw that frees the fortress from its icy prison sees only two travelers on the road down into the valley: two young shadow warriors on their quest to prove themselves. All they know is that they must kill a man who calls himself Little Fox...

The story so far:
Kiara and Kagemaru, two young ninjas of the Ayami clan, have made their way into a small village at the foot of the mountain range that houses the shinobi fortress where they grew up. Concealing their identities, they made friends with Yukio and her husband, a local couple of farmers. For the time being, Kiara pretends to be a young noblewoman on a journey, with Kagemaru as her bodyguard. After a stormy night spent in Yukio's barn, the two ninjas have gone to the village's painter to see if he can provide them with a map of the valley - but it seems that the Forge, a weapon foundry / trade town just a day's travel away is the next step on their route.
