Junkyard Wars

Jorm rolls out of bed grateful that his fourth alarm didn't have to go off; the sound of Imperial Stormtroopers marching down a corridor hall will wake just about anyone up, but it usually leaves him on edge for the rest of the day. He doesn't have time to really clean up, but manages to use some mouthwash and answer nature's call before heading out the door.

Kolit's message leaves a smile on his face.

As he enters Bay 13 he takes a look up at the hulk of the Decimator waiting for him and wonders if he shouldn't ask medical about some mood stabilizing medication.

Nah. The enclosed area just makes it seem bigger.

While waiting for Ty to show up, he begins reviewing the notes he made about the Decimator while he was dismantling her for transport.

Having woken up at 0800, Calimari Time, which happens to be 0630 local, Ty spends the next few hours checking around the ship, getting his bearings. Then, he has a liesurely breakfast before arriving at the bay at exactly 0801. Fasionably late, he thinks to himself as he enters. Seeing Lt. Taban, Jorm, dangit, already there staring at a data pad in the shadow of an Imp Devastator that has seen better days, Ty walks on over. "Morning, sir," he say cheerfully.

"zzzz...*snort*...zzzz..."

Lying all cooped up in his favorite hammock, Mandall is sound asleep.

Of course I'll accompany you to the gala dinner, Princess!
CrazyIvan 2006-02-25 04:36:09
Aurelia sighs softly before responding.

"Just wonderin' why this keeps happening...and why if it does, I'm not the one sending it, rather than getting it..." she trails off, squirming down another hatch to take a look at the port thrusters.

When the rest of the unit starts assembling in the hanger Aurelia remains sleeping in the hamock she's set up, conveniently in a small partitioned space of the hanger near the ship itself, visible, yet seperate enough to call her own. She's still in her jumpsuit, although her boots and vest have been removed, and around her is scattered half a dozen parts on a makeshift shelving unit, along with a small pile of schematics.

Let's see. If I reroute the power through here, here and here, then the constant power flow changes shouldn't interfere with the sensors. Why did I write 'You need air!' in the margins? Right! Life support. Not everyone is comfortable sitting in a sealed space suit for the length of a mission.

Ty's greating breaks Jorm out of his reverie. "Ah, Ty. Good morning." Jorm gestures toward the Decimator frame. "This is our next project. I'm thinking of calling her Echo."

As he shows Ty the ship frame and the components, Jorm finally notices Calsera on top of the crates. "Cat, when did you get here?"
e of pi 2006-02-25 06:28:07
Ty looks over the crates. It's not the top-of-line stuff, but it's functional and pretty reliable. Suddenly, though, he realizes, that all though he can induce that they are planning to rebuild a spacecraft out of this wreck, he doesn't know how or into what. "Umm, sir? Exactly what are you planning to do with this pilew of junk? I mean, I can see you're planning something big, but what? Also, maybe we should check this hulk's history before we start? Imperial files might contain maintence data that could avoid some problems, and I'd rather plan for them than be left to find out later."

Calsera pops an eye open. "Hi, Jorm. Ah... a while ago. I know we're supposed to be having a meeting down here some time this morning, and didn't want to sleep through it."

She looks over at Ty. "You're the new guy, right? I'm Calsera, and you are...?"
e of pi 2006-02-25 20:15:57
"Ty, Ty Ridemis. You were at what you folks apparently consider a bar last night? You wanted to know if I was going to fix the still or not."
fanchergw 2006-02-25 20:32:22
"That's right, Ty. Nice to meet you. Any luck with it before you were so unceremoniously drug away? I'm afraid I didn't stay around much after that."

Ganet walks in quietly, looks around, and takes a seat. It looks like the gearheads are doing their thing right now.
e of pi 2006-02-25 21:41:50
"Yeah, it's chugging away. It'll need to be treated with care, but I think catastrophic failure is unlikely."
DatonKallandor 2006-02-25 22:30:32
Eritram arrives at the site a bit more than fashinably late. The thin noble carries his rifle slung across his shoulder.

As he takes a look at the giantic decimator he can't help but say, "Do you really plan to remake THAT ship?."
Gatac 2006-02-27 16:49:41
zzzz...ZZ...zzzz...hrmpf...zzz

Mandall briefly stirs as if close to waking up, but instead just turns around.

Ah, sleep. Glorious.
fanchergw 2006-02-27 17:36:30
"Sounds like it's in as good a shape as ever it was," Calsera replies, still with just one eye open. "So I take you're a techie?"
CrazyIvan 2006-02-27 18:22:13
Aurelia has, by this time, woken up, and wanders toward the group, combat boots unlaced, as she puts her vest on. She gives Eritram a slightly sleepy grin and shakes her head.

"Not rebuild. It's just a good starting place. Like this ship" she gives the carrier an all-expansive wave "started out as a bulk carrier. Then we ripped out the cargo bay, added docking shields and harnesses..." she trails of then grins, patting the Dagger affectionately. "Not like my girl here, but she'll do."
e of pi 2006-02-27 19:03:26
"Not really. I'm a pilot, but, hey, you listen and keep your eyes open and you pick things up." Ty nods to the hulk dominating the bay. "So, once more, what are we going to do with this thing?"
fanchergw 2006-02-27 19:07:16
"Ah, a pilot. Wonderful! Perhaps we can swap stories some time."

Since she really has very little idea of the plans for the new ship, Calsera leaves that question for Jorm or Aurelia to answer.
CrazyIvan 2006-02-28 03:25:52
"We rebuild it as an electronic warfare ship, with a side order of gunboat kicking about."
e of pi 2006-02-28 04:21:41
"Hmmm. Seems like an interesting combination. Where can we start?"
Aihal the Silent 2006-02-28 17:36:14
Jorm is pretty sure that everyone who is planning to show up is here, so he decides to get the hard part overwith.

"Since we're pretty much all here, I have some good news, Vandals. In addition to Ty's joining the squadron, Kolit has made the construction of the ECM ship a part of Vandal Squadron's regular duty assignment. This is now an Alliance-sanctioned project."

Jorm checks his datapad. "In answer to Ty's question, I think that the best place to start will be with the basic systems: Engines, Navi-Computer, Hyperdrive, Life Support, etc. We'll work on the more complex systems once we've got a solid platform. Aurelia, what do you think"

Almost as a side note and slightly under his breath, Jorm then adds "Also, Kolit has assigned me as Vandal Squadron's new commanding officer. At least until I get killed or he finds someone better to replace me."
